MACU 2014 (Mobile automated contemporary Unit)

Description de l'animation:

MACU (Mobile automated contemporary Unit) is the third experimental, technology oriented building prototype which integrates digital planning and manufacturing techniques as a part of strategy for solving enormous housing backlog of Addis Ababa-Ethiopia and Juba-South Sudan. The aim is to develop such a small scale parameterized modular housing prototype which is flexible enough to suits the local needs both - Ethiopian and South Sudanese project partners. It will be a show case where the team of students with their tutors will research and explore possibilities digital manufacturing resulting in desig and realization of an 1:1 housing unit.
MACU is part of the “welcome to africa” project 2012- 2015 at DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) which is an international academic research project between the Ethiopian, South Sudanese and German universities. This research program's aim is to strengthen the collaboration in research and practical experiences and competency to bring together contemporary building technology with real circumstances.
